800-838-3850 |
A "Bed, Book, and Breakfast", Canterbury Inn is housed on the second story of the historic Jacobson Building above Canterbury Bookstore and Cafe, a mere 60 feet off lively State Street.
Chaucer's Canterbury Tales provides the main theme for the Inn. Each of the six guest rooms greets guests with an exquisite, whimsical mural painted by Madison artist Nancy Lee depicting episodes from travelers' tales six centuries ago.
Where else can a booklover slumber beneath murals of Chaucer's raucous tales, then peruse the galley of a not-yet-published novel while soaking in a whirlpool -- Mozart wafting softly on the air. The generous shelves of books and elaborate hand-painted detail in every room reflect the attentive Old World courtesy to be found here. |
