Imagine a time long ago, when cotton was king and steam locomotives ran the tracks through this sleepy little town. Things are different now, but you can still rock on the front porch and watch the world go by.
When James H. Bibb built this plantation home in 1867, Madison was just a railroad community called Madison Station. Now it's at the center of North Alabama's thriving valley region.
Bibb House is on the National Historic Register. It is the oldest complete home in Madison and the only Greek Revival structure. Owned by Phil and Ann Whatley, its loving restoration has been ongoing for the past twenty years. Now its history and comfort can be shared.

It is located near the Hampton Cove community and the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Hampton Cove. This one-and-one half story, wood frame building is a good local example of Queen Anne style architecture and a landmark within the small town of Fayette. Its design elements include a wraparound porch, a hexagonal tower with a bell-shaped roof, and imbricated woodwork in some of its gables. |
